I have been a sales rep and a sales manger for over 45 years. In all those years I have always had the responsibility to do sales reports. In 2008 Lynx Medical Products inc. had its first single digit growth since inception in 1992. During the review process, we discovered that while we have some business in a lot of hospitals, we did not have a lot of business in a lot of hospitals. We had to dramatically improve our penetration level.
We had a senior sales team, which we believed contributed to a lot of our success over the years. Our sales reps had a responsibility to do weekly sales reports. Our analytics of these sales reports showed that while our sales reps did 3-5 calls per day, the call cycle was typically in 4 calls to 4 different hospitals. We believe this was leading to our lack of efficiency and our lack of penetration. Our management group decided that we needed to retrain our reps in a consultative sales approach and educated them on improving their efficiency by making several sales calls in the same hospital.

We saw an immediate impact on our sales efficiency. Sales reps were now making several sales calls per hospital, which was not typical. Sales reps were now making 7-10 sales calls per day and were only making calls to two hospital sites. This was almost double our typical productivity.
The result was profound. Sales reps were now spending more time in front of end users. Our penetration level and revenue increased dramatically. Front Row allowed us to not only track sales calls, but also track penetration levels into hospitals. We also use Front Row to gauge the effectiveness of our new sales training program. We are able to identify strengths and weaknesses of our sales reps, and provide custom training where needed. In 2009 Lynx Medical Products inc. achieved a better than 25 % increase in revenue, the highest growth in 7 years. We achieved this through a dramatically more effective sales force. Our sales reps significantly improved the number and efficiency of their sales calls. My only question now is where would our revenue be if we had Front Row Solutions five years ago. We can now quickly assess strengths and weaknesses of our team in half the time it took us before and therefore increase the overall skill level of our team as well as move the low performers out at a much quicker rate saving a lot of time and money.
